Daitoryu Aikijujutsu Ginjukai

Due to political reasons, Sensei Popkin and Sensei Brogna decided to leave the Daitoryu Aikijujutsu Roppokai.

Even though we are no longer affiliated with the Roppokai, we both love and respect Okamoto Sensei and his Daitoryu. Due to this fact, we continue to practice Daitoryu Aikijujutsu as taught to us by Okamoto Sensei, while incorporating some other aspects of training that we deem necessary and complimentary. This includes the Jujitsu, Aikijujutsu, and Aiki portions of the Daitoryu curriculum.

Our study of Daitoryu, now called Daitoryu Aikijujutsu Ginjukai was named because we want to be constantly reminded of one of Okamoto Sensei’s most important technical principles – softness.

Gin = silver (Okamoto told us to get softer as our hair turned silver with age)

Ju = soft, relaxed

Kai = group, association

In addition, we are focusing on integrating that softness with internal power, so movements flow and create “Aiki”, the harmonizing of internal energy with external contact.
